In this workshop, participants considered how to critically appraise research papers. Each section in a paper was covered in turn and there was much emphasis on evaluating the collection and analysis of data as described by the authors. Widely available critical appraisal sheets were also discussed.

This short course covers key concepts and global issues in child health and disability. It also provides a background to evidence-based child health interventions and knowledge of common childhood illnesses and strategies on how to control these in developing countries. Participants have the opportunity to share experiences with a wide range of people, including clinicians and those with experience of non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
